Stitch for the Cure
My Lords and Ladies…..The West Kingdom Needleworker's Guild is joining hands with the October Crown Fairies to raise money for breast cancer research and awareness. We're calling our campaign…STITCH FOR THE CURE!
You do NOT need to be a member of the Guild to participate - all are welcome!
The Fundraiser will be a silent auction of embroidered items to be held at October Crown 2011, where they will be displayed. You can either stitch an item of your own choice, or you can choose to stitch one of the following: Haversack, pouch, napkins, table runner, needlebooks with or without pincushions, table covering for a small table, book cover, scissor case, trim, covered buttons or pillows. To sign up, please contact Guild Minister or Isela di Bari
Rose Pouches for Our Western
Queens
For several years now we have been presenting
each out going Queen with a Rose Pouch in our
Kingdom's colors (red rose, green leaves, gold
center/seeded, on a gold background) at Beltane,
Purgatorio, and 12th Night. Our Queens have been
very appreciative of this, especially when they
see the wonderful largesse projects that go to
the other Kingdom's at Pennsic.
The project is similar to the previous Rose
Pouch project - a pouch with a five-petal Tudor
rose design. The embroidered portion is approximately
6"x6" and the overall pouch a couple inches larger.
You have the choice of embroidery technique. A
basic design and basic chart is available here
or from the Yahoo Groups files . The background
should be gold, the rose red, the leaves green,
and the center gold. The Guild will supply materials
upon request.
Sign-ups: Since we don't know who will be Queen,
sign-ups are for a specific delivery date. We
currently have people signed up through 12th Night
2008. Deadline is always 1 month in advance of
the event. If you get the project done in advance,
your piece may be used earlier than the date specified
if someone else misses their deadline. However,
please endeavor to be early for our peace of mind.
You may email
Sabrina de la Bere or sign-up at any Crown
event.
Royal Napkins Project
The guild supplies all new royalty with napkins. If you wish to volunteer, Lady Sorcha is coordinating volunteers, email the guild minister or sign up at any Crown event.
West-An Tir War Cloak
Since 2 guild members have made the War Cloaks, it was decided at June Crown 2010 for the guild to take over the responsibility of making the War Cloak. A cloak is made every other year and is presented by the King of the West to an An Tir Warrior. Jocelyn of Rowenwood will make the cloak for 2012. Funding is supplied at the Kingdom level.
Royal Gift Chests Projects
Besides our other Guild projects, there are
more opportunities to be of service to the Kingdom
of the West and to its Principalities, which are
always in need of items for Their Majesties and
Their Highnesses to give as thanks to people,
as well as to show off the talents of the Kingdom.
Gift Chest projects are a
great opportunity to try out new techniques on
small pieces; personal projects are also welcomed.
For items that you wish to donate to the Cynagua
Principality Gift Chest, contact the Guild Minister. items that you wish to donate to the West Kingdom
or the Mists Royals may be given to the Royalty
directly. We hope you will give often and generously
of your talents.
